Multiplying and Dividing Fractions

Question 1

Our first question is 2/3 multiplied by 9/10. First what we do is to multiply the numerators which is 2 and 9. So 2 x 9 equals to 18.

Now all that is left to do is to multiply the denominators. So 3 multiplied by 10 equals to 30.

Now the fraction we have is 18/30. So we simplify it and we get 3/5.

So our answer is 3/5 .

Now we move on to dividing fractions. Our first Question is 1/4 divided by 3/4. When dividing fractions it always helps when using a ratio table.

Now we have to make it into a mixed fraction. First we have to figure out how many times does 4 go into 12 ? 3 , so 3 becomes the whole number. Since 4 goes into 12 perfectly and there are no left over 3 also becomes our numerator and the denominator stays the same.

Adding and Subtracting Fractions


Question 1



First what we do is look at the Denominators. Then we look at what the two Denominators both go into, then we multiply. 2 multiplied by 7 would give us the total of 14.

Now that we multiplied both our numerators. All that is left to do is add both second fractions that we got which was 7 over 14 and 4 over 14.

So all we did for the last step was add the numerators and kept the denominators the same, which gave us the total fraction of 11 over 14.

First we look at the Denominators, then we figure out what they both go into so 3 times 10 equals 30. Now we make a set of fractions that could go into 30. Now we divide. We divide 3 into 30 and also divide how many times 10 goes into 30.

The last thing we do now is to take away from the numerator which is 10 and 9. So 10 take away 9 equals to one. Then we keep the denominators the same and we have a fraction of 1 over 30.

Who is Pythagoras ?

Phytagoras is a Greek mathematmatician and was also a teacher and a philosopher, He also calculated the earth's circumference and discovered that it was a sphere not a flat. He was known for the Pythagorean theorem ( a2 + b2 = c2 ) , known as the " father of numbers " and was also a vegetarian. Pythagoras was one of the most important people in the world. Although they don't have evidence that Pythagoras excisted he was still an important person in the world.

Right Triangle ;
Right Triangle it can also be called " R.A.T " which mean ( right angled triangle ). Side A and B make up the LEGS which is the longest side of the triangle. It doesn't matter where the side A and B goes as long as the hypotenuse is on the right place. The Hypotenuse is the longest side of the triangle. In most triangles something is labeled as " Q & B " Q means theta and B means beta. The right angle on the triangle means 90 degrees.

you have to replace the letters into numbers

now we have to figure out what b equals
b²=(10x10)-(8x8)
b²=100-64
b²=36
we now have to find the square root of 36
b=6
* since thee are two triangles we have to do that twice , which give us b = 12 *

Pay It Forward

For this project there was allot of things i wanted to do for example i wanted to volunteer at a children's hospital , bake and give it to the homeless , donate toys to charities , help at a soup kitchen and etc . But though i didn't get to do them. But instead i did three things that i know i can do in just a day or two , For my act of kindness what i did was babysat for free , shoveled someones driveway and gave out cards to share Christmas spirit and the joy of the new year. I did my act of kindness with my friends Christian and Jessalynne , we all participated by drawing the cards , coloring them , taking turns taking care of the babies , and we both shoveled the driveway together. We both had fun knowing that we were helping someone or if not at least putting a smile on there faces . I just hope that the people we helped would do us a favor and pay it forward .

The cards we made said something like " we might be strangers but would like to say happy new year and merry Christmas ... " and then it mentioned something about pay it forward , how all they need to do is to show a general act of kindness to three people and those three will have to pay it forward to three people . We babysat about four kids which where Christian's sisters ; Eula , Nicole , Julienne , Adriennne and my brother Gabby . It was great taking care of them , they are fun and energetic kids to be around with . They make you laugh allot , they would sing and dance to you and they even helped with making some of the cards . It was a pleasure being there and we would love to babysit them again. We also shoveled there yard , and even though it was cold and freezing outside it was fun how we were helping people and it was worth it (:

2 person - do you know how to combine like terms , and distributive property ?

1 person - yes i do .

1 person - for example this question n+3-5n+12 is equals to -4n+15 .

2 person - NO , you are wrong ! the answer is -6n + 15 .

1 person - no , it couldnt be . the quetion says n+3-5n+12 . the question says you owe -5n and you have n . which mean your answer would be -4n +15 . and you always add the opposite .

2 person - oh , really . i thought you were supossed to make the minus to a plus and leave the question as it is .

1 person - NO , you turn the minus into a plus . and you add the opposite .

2 person - Oh , thanks for the help.

1 person - well now that you know how to add the opposite , let see if you can do this second problem .

1 person - for example , 2 + 4(3n+8) .

2 person - Uhm , i think i know the answer .

1 person - Go ahead , answer the question .

2 person - Okay , i think the answer is ... 12n + 10 .

1 person - You were almost right , all you forgot is you dont add all of them together .
you combine your like terms , you put them into the same basket and you add them together.
so your answer should have been 14 + 3n

Today in class we talked more about dividing integers. We finished our barn doors and Mr. Harbeck reviewed what we needed to have on our barn doors, to get a full marks. We needed to have at least two examples for each door and we needed to have the rule's. We also talked about yesterday's homework. Yesterday's homework was page 7 numbers 10 - 17 , we checked numbers 13 , 16 and 17 .





Today's homework is page 7 numbers 19 and 23 , and page 8 numbers 1 to 18 .

Today in class we talked about integers. And Mr. Harbeck also talked about how we should ask more questions in class. And he also wanted us to be curious about things, like when were in kindergarten. He also talked about how the second and third part of story will be due soon. And after we did two questions on the smart board. And the questions were :

( -2 ) - ( +5 ) + ( -4 ) = (?)
( -2 ) + ( -5 ) + ( -4 ) = - 11

Then we started to do our homework which was pages 48 and 49. For page 48 we had to do numbers : 21, 22, 23 , 27, 29, 37, 38, 40. For page 49 we had to do numbers : 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 25, 26. These are some of the questions :

The Game

day there was a boy named Gabby , he was playing his video games until something came up on the screen and it said " you have to solve this four problems before you can play your game. Get them all right , you get a special version of Rock Band. Then it showed , ( + 5 ) + ( - 3 ) = ? " Hm, Gabby solved it right away he said that the answer is :



Then after he solved it it said " Good job , you have figured out the first one. Now you have to figure out three more and then you can play the special new game. " He went outside and he found the second problem on the ground and it said " Your getting closer , now you next problem is ( + 9 ) + ( - 6 ) = ? ". Gabby thought that this was a little hard so he used algebra tiles. Then he got it. He has the answer. And the answer is :



Gabby started to play basketball. He threw the ball so hard it went over the neighbors fence, while he went around to get his ball he found the third problem and it said : " Your doing great, one more problem and you can finally play the new version of Rock Band. And you problem is ( - 9 ) + ( + 9 ) = ? ".





Gabby finished his third problem , now all there is left to do is wait for the last problem. After a long wait , it finally showed up . And it said " This is your last problem and it will be a hard one. If you get this right then you can play Rock Band. Here is your last problem ( + 10 ) + ( + 9 ) = ? good luck ".





Gabby walked back in, and checked is he could play the game now. He walks in the living room and sees Rock Band on the floor and on it had a message that says : " Now you know your integers, Have fun playing Rock Band. "

  • Sum of all numbers divided by the number of digits in your data and that is your mean.
MEDIAN
  • Arrange your data in ascending order.
  • look for the number in the middle and that your median.
MODE
  • arrange your data in ascending order.
  • the number that shows up the most is your mode.

RANGE
  • arrange your set of date in ascending order.
  • subtract the largest number and the smallest number together to get the range.
