chapter two script and movie

John McCain hey Barack can you help me with something
.
Barack Oboma what do you want john?
John McCain I'm stuck on a math problem.
Barack Oboma what is it?
John McCain I need help answering n+3-5n+12.
John McCain I thought I figured it out but something doesn't seem right.
John McCain I had -6n+15
Barack Oboma that's wrong you idiot!
no wonder you didn't get elected president, you couldn't do algebra even if your life depended on it!
John McCain that hurt man.
Barack Oboma sorry.
John McCain it's ok.
Barack Oboma To start this question you circle n,+3,-5n and +12. Then you combined like terms.
John McCain so the n and -5n go together and the +3 and +12 go together.
Barack Oboma yes. Remember that n is one so n+-5n is -4n. We know that 3 and 12 is 15 so the answer is -4n+15. you maid the mistake when you added the n to the -5n. You maid the n a negative 1n instead of a positive 1n.
John McCain oops. I have another math question to ask you
Barack Oboma what is it.
John McCain 2+4(3n+8).
Barack Oboma what do you think the answer is.
John McCain is it 12n+10.
Barack Oboma WRONG!
John McCain was I close?
Barack Oboma ya, but you're still wrong. When you use distributive property you multiply everything in the the brackets not just the first number in the bracket.
John McCain oops
Barack Oboma 4(3n)=12n and 4(8)=32. Then you add the two to the 32 to get 34. To get the answer all you have to do is put the 12n in front of the 34. 12n+34.
John McCain thanks for the help Barack.
Barack Oboma any time John.

chapter three test questions

8. 60=n+33

-33+60=n+33-33

27=n

60=n+33

60=27+33

60=60

9. 1/9 n=6

1/9(9)n=6(9)

n=54

1/9 n=6

1/9 54=6

6=6

10. n-(-8)=21

n+(+8)-8=21-8

n=13

n-(-8)=21

13-(-8)=21

21=21

12. 11n=77

1/11 (11)n=77 1/11

n=7

11n=77

11 (7)=77

77=77
