Chapter 2:
Female: Hello! Mr.Math, are you there?

Male: Yeahp!

Female: I need help! My sister is asking me to help her in her algebra homework.
And I don't want to get mistaken.
It is about algebra.

Female: Her homework is about algebra, combining like terms to be exact.

Male: You mean to simplify an expression or an equation using addition and subtraction of the coefficient?

Female: Exactly!

Male: Oh, well, I'm sure I could help you on that. That was my favorite subject in High School.

Female: Really? That's Cool!

Male: Okay, What is your fist question?

Male: The key to using and understanding the method of Combining Like
Terms is to understand like terms and be able to identify when a
pair of terms is a pair of like terms..

Female: How do I know those like terms?

Male: Example : 45y,8y,-25y, y are like terms because each of them consists of a single variable y. Another is:10, 0,-4,-20, is antoher set of like terms because they are all constants, that is without variable.

Female: Ah, I see. Then after I determine the like terms, what do i do?

Male: Well, you perform the mathematical operation like addition and subtraction involve in each of the variables. Remember that you can only combine like terms.

Female: Okay, Now what's next?

Male: Also remember to follow the rules on how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers. That's very important.

Female: Oh, yeah I still remember how to perform the mathematical operation in integers,

Male: That's good! Now you know how to combine like terms Do you have another question?

Female: Oh, that's all for now. Thank you very much. That is very clear.

Male: Well you're welcome. Come again, if you need any of my help on any mathematical questions.




CONTINUATION..
(Combining like terms and Distributive Property)

Female: Hi, Mr. Mathinik?

Male: Hello dear, let me guess why you're here. You're here because you have another
mathematical question, right?

Female: You guessed it right!! Well you know, ever since you taught me about combining like terms I got very interested in algebra.

Male: That's good!

Female: Now I want to show you an equation, which I answered. Please tell me if I'm right or wrong.

Male: Okay, what equation?

Female: n + 3 - 5n + 12. My answer is negative 6n plus 15. Am I right?

Male: Hmm, Let's see. As I've told you have to combine like terms first. So, n minus 5n, plus 12 plus 3. If we combine n minus 5n .This is equal to negative four n and then 12 plus 3 is 15. So,the final answer should be negative 4n plus 15.

Female: Isn't it that n minus 5 n is negative six?

Male: Well, no. Remember in subtracting integers you have to change the sign of the subtrahend then proceed to addition. So that should be n plus negative 5 n which is equal to negative four n. They have different signs so then you subtract. and copy the sign of the number with the bigger value.

Female: Oops! My mistake! I must've forgotten.

Male: That's fine, at least I reminded you. Next time do not forget because if you have one small error,everything goes wrong.

Female: Oh, Thank you. I have another one. I hope now I'm right.

Male: Okay, you're welcome. Tell me your equation.

Female: It's 2+4( 3 n + 8), my answer s 12n plus 10.

Male: Hmm, let's see. Did you know that has a Distributive property of multiplication? Did you apply it?

Female: Oh, yeah!

Male: Good! Let's see how you did.

Male: First you distribute four to all the quantities inside the bracket. So, the equation will be 2+4x3n+4x8; This will become 2+12n+32. Now you can combine like terms. Here, there is only one variable n and 2 constants. So it is now 12n+2+32. What do you think should be the final answer?

Female: Is it 12n+34?

Male: That's right. Is it the same as your answer?

Female: Awww,What happened to my addition?

Male: Well, you just need practice!

Female: Yeah, I'll need it and I also need you.

Male: No problem, at least I'm happy to see that you're interested to learn.

Female: Oh, yeah, you inspired me. You're making it so simple for me. Though, I have to have more practice.

Male: I'm flattered.Hahaha.Yes, you need more practice.

Female: Thank you very much. I hope you don't get tired of me asking for help all the time.

Male: No,no,no,no,no,no,no. I don't mind at all. It's my pleasure.

Female: Okay, thank you very much! Bye now! Have a good afternoon.

Male: You too, missy.

    HI Eunice ! I think your big book of algebra is awesome! I just got one thing to say .. but I think Abby already commented it. Your video is supposed to be in chapter 4 and your pictures are supposed to be in chapter 3. By the way, your supposed to explain what how you solved in those pictures. But, otherwise, I think your post is really well done. GREEAAT JOB !
